I just saw the Rapture play last night open with The Locust, the Blood Brothers, Soiled Doves, and Tourette's Latrec at the Paradox in Seattle... Missed Tourettes's. :( I honestly thought the Rapture's first number was a parody of mid-period Cure -- like "Pornography" and "The Top". Then the subsequent songs sounded similar; then I realized that they were serious. I'll allow them another chance... but someone please tell me the appeal here. Soiled Doves (formerly The Vogue) were pretty damn cool... points of ref: Brainiac, Mukilteo Fairies, Sex Gang Children... The Blood Brothers (feat. the singer from Soiled Doves) rocked the house in a sassy Antioch Arrow style.... not as much tortured-soul-being-sucked-into-the-vortex-of-Hell style vocals as much as angry-cat's-tail-being-stepped-on style vocals. The Locust... well, they were the Locust. "Get off the cross, the wood is needed.... nyah nyah" :)

The recent GoGoGo Airheart shows I've seen have been more on the jammy early PiL/Can tip more than anything. But there is no such thing as a typical GoGoGo show. It could change completely at any time. ======================================================================= Brian MacDonald <brianm@kuci.org> ======================================================================= --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
